Current Project

Projects on my Design Board

I tend to limit projects in process to three.  There is typically a piece nearing completion and one or two patterned or fused, just waiting for their time under my machine.

Why limit myself? In a word, CHAOS!  If too many projects are going, I lose focus.  Hate that.

Here is what is happening now.

Reflections – NYC

On a recent trip to NYC, I challenged myself to find the beauty in the crowded streets, chaos, clutter and all that makes NYC the incredible city it is.  Mind you, I am a nature girl: urban settings are not what I think of when looking for beauty!

As I walked, I found myself looking up, watching the reflections in the glass fronts of the buildings upper floors change as I walked.  We think of window glass as flat but it is not: the reflections bowed, curved and reset themselves as they moved across the glass surfaces.  It reminded me of trees in a breeze or the reflections generated by the wind moving across a pond or stream.  I’d found the beauty I was looking for.

My series called “Reflections – NYC” was born.

Reflections - NYC III

You can tell I cropped the original photo to create a less cluttered, focused view. I'm am pleased with how it is coming together. The reflected buildings look like another world to me; a new place to explore where everything is not angular and precise.
This is just the pattern: next is creating the pieces and fusing it. Then it's the fun part - I get to thread paint and quilt it all together
